More like the Mexico of the mid-1960s, the East Cape area is far from the frenetic energy of Cabo San Lucas, and much more relaxed than the bustling capital of the state Baja California Sur, La Paz. The area is anchored by the villages of Los Barriles and Buenavista on the East Coast of Baja Sur. The 100 miles of intermittent rock and secluded white sandy beaches extends from San José, near Baja's tip, to Las Arenas below La Paz.
